Takeovers are unlocked by meeting certain attribute thresholds in categories like scoring, playmaking, defending, etc. as outlined in a takeover requirements table.  Attributes are marked green if they need to directly meet the threshold, or yellow if that attribute or another yellow one tied to the takeover needs to qualify. There are 14 unique takeover abilities that provide different boosts when activated, such as shot creator, lockdown defender, rim protector, etc. As a takeover is charged up through in-game actions, the player's attributes are boosted further in subsequent takeover levels for an added edge. Players can filter the takeover requirements table by a specific ability to see which takeovers unlock a playstyle they want for their MyPlayer.

How To Level Up Your Takeover Ability In NBA 2K25?

1. Perform actions on the court that fill your takeover meter, such as making shots, blocking shots, assists, steals, etc. depending on your selected takeover ability.

2. Your takeover meter will fill and level up through 5 levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and finally Pink Diamond.

3. At each level up, the boost to your stats from your activated takeover ability will increase. So the higher the takeover level, the bigger the attribute boost.

4. It takes progressively more actions/stats to fill the bar higher through each takeover level.

5. Upon reaching the 5th and final Pink Diamond level, your takeover ability will automatically activate, highlighted by a flashing indicator around your player.

6. You can now take full advantage of the maximized attribute boosts from your activated takeover.

7. Between games, you have the option to "Respec" your takeover choice.
